PAUL E. COX

Source: Crawfordsville Journal Review, July 15, 1968

Word has been received here of the death of Paul E. Cox of Baton Rouge, La., on June 22. He was 88 and one of the country’s best known authorities on ceramics. He wrote and spoke on the subject and served in advisory capacities to many companies and colleges and universities in this country and Europe. He was born in Crawfordsville and was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He and Homer Linn were the only two surviving Spanish War veterans still living from Montgomery County. He left here shortly after that war but had visited here numerous times over the years and maintained an active correspondence with Mr. Linn and other friends in Crawfordsville. Mr. Cox headed the department of ceramic engineering at Iowa College at Ames in the 1920s and 1930s. Only Mrs. Cox survives. She has been an invalid for some time. Interment was at Baton Rouge. – jlr
