Mrs. Mamie Belle Cox, 77, died at 12:45 p.m. Friday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. A native of Garfield, she was born Sept. 16, 1888 to David and Anna Jacoby Black. She married Hurschel Cox on Oct. 20, 1907. They began housekeeping in the Darlington area, lived for a time in Boone County, then at Bowers Station, and moved to Darlington in 1960. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Bowers EUB Church and Colfax Rebekah Lodge. Surviving besides the husband are seven sons, Lawrence of Jamestown, Charles and Merle of Crawfordsville, Joe of Advance, Howard of New Richmond, Wilbur of Phoenix, Ariz., and Don of Coronado, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Overholtz of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mabel Tennant of Gary and Mrs. Edith Darrough of Phoenix; four brothers, Clarence, Edgar and Elmer Black of Crawfordsville and Joe Black of Portland, Ore., and 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by three daughters, three sons, a sister and two grandsons. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bright Funeral Home in Darlington, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Leonard Siff will officiate, and interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
