John W. Cox, 70 Dies At Danville John W. Cox, 70, an employee of the Mid-States Steel & Wire Co. for 32 years, died in his sleep Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Betty Mauch, Danville, Ill. He had been ill since March 8 with a heart ailment. Born November 20, 1882, at Oakwood, Ill., Mr. Cox was the son of William W. and Maria Watson Cox. He married Margaret J. Fletcher of Montgomery county November 21, 1905. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Cox retired from the Mid-States Company in October 1951. During his early life he had engaged in farming. The family home is at 1010 E. Main street. Surviving besides the daughter at whose home he died are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Chadwick, Ladoga, and Mrs. Mildred Robertson, Indianapolis; a son, Marvin Cox, Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, Patricia Ann and Bobby Cox, New Castle; Elaine Cox, Crawfordsville, and Monte Chadwick, Ladoga, and several nieces and nephews. The parents, three sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home after Wednesday noon.
