Mrs. Jessie Hymer Cox, 81, of Edwardsville, Ill., a native of Roachdale and former Crawfordsville resident, died Saturday in Belleville (Ill.) Memorial Hospital. She was a 50-year member and former worthy matron of Edwardsville Chapter of OES, a 50-year Golden Arrow member of Phi Beta Pi sorority, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church and DAR. She was born April 15, 1897, a daughter of James W. and Ella King Hymer. She married Dr. Wayne B. Cox on June 22, 1921. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Dr. Wayne B. Cox II of Belleville; a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Nancy) Fontaine of Greencastle; a sister, Mrs. Mary Hayworth of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren; and a niece. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Pletcher Funeral Home at Edwardsville with the Rev. Carl Bennet officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. The family requests that memorials be made in the form of donations to the First Presbyterian Church or the Department of Hematology and Oconolgy at St. Louis University Medical School. – jlr
