George Cox, of Shannondale, died Monday morning at the home of his grandchildren at that place. About three weeks ago he sustained a hard fall on the ice which broke his hip, and he never rallied from the shock. He would have been 83 years old at his next birthday, and in his death the community loses a highly respected citizen. ---kbz

George Cox, one of the pioneers of Montgomery County, died at his home in Shannondale Monday morning at the age of 83 years. His death was the direct result of a fall he sustained on the ice some three weeks previous. ---kbz

The funeral of Uncle George Cox, occurred at Shannondale at 1 o’clock Tuesday with interment at that place. Mr. Cox was born Jan 23d 1815 having been a resident of Shannondale for many years and leaves behind a wife and four grandchildren. During the resent sleet he fell on the ice breaking his hip and this together with the infirmities of old age led to his death, LaFollette brothers had charge of the funeral. ---kbz
