Feb. 20, 1926-Nov. 30, 2012: Mr. Fred W. Cordes, 86, Crawfordsville, passed away at 5:19 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at Hickory Creek of Crawfordsville Healthcare.He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Crawfordsville, to Arthur and Flossie (Murphy) Cordes. He married Ruth Howard on Jan. 14, 1955, in Crawfordsville. She survives.  Mr. Cordes retired from Alcoa of Lafayette after 33 years of employment. He was a member of the Englewood Church of Christ and enjoyed doing woodworking.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by nieces, Kelly Brock and Suzi Pearson; nephew Mark Cordes; and several nieces and nephews on Ruth’s side of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carroll Cordes. A private graveside service will be held in the Mace Community Cemetery.
