Williamsport - Fred L. Cooper, 82 of Williamsport died at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday in Country Care Community at Williamsport after an extended illness. Mr. Cooper was a laborer at RR Donnelley & Sons and had been a guitarist in many local bands. He was formerly of Waynetown and Crawfordsville.
He served in the Army during WWII. He was born Dec 3, 1913 at Mellott to James Robert and Sina Belle Strader Cooper. He married Helen C. Keck Whitaker on Jan 15, 1947. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Maxwell Rau of Indianapolis; a family friend, Ms. Teresa Clevenger of Covington; three sisters, Mrs. Victor (Elsie) Thompson of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Daisy Drew of Gonzolas, Texas and Mrs. Beulah Hoover of Walton, Ind and two grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Linda Kallock officiating. There will be no calling. Shoemaker Funeral Home Inc of Waynetown is in charge of services.
