Elbert Lee Cornett, 84, of Rt. 1, Crawfordsville died at 6 a.m. Friday at his home on Lebanon Road. He had been a longtime resident of the Crawfordsville area. Born May 2, 1885, in Lee County, Virginia, he was the son of John and Frances Lawson Cornett. He married Miss Forrest I. Hughes in Crafordsville Feb 2, 1907. Mr. Cornett was a member of the Crawfordsville First Baptist Church. He had been a painting contractor most of his life. Survivors include the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Bowman of Colfax, Mrs. Glen Grater of Ladoga and Mrs. Kenneth Ellis of Marion; a son, Charles Cornett of Rt. 1, Crawfordsville; 11 grandchildren and 34 greats. Also surviving are two brothers, Bradley Cornett of Thorntown and Frank Cornett of North Bend, Washington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Hunt & Son Fuenral Home here. Rev. Esmond Elliott & Dr. Clarence Strother will officiate. Burial will be in Masoni c Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday.  -- typed by kbz
