Lebanon, Ind Feb 12 – Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Coons, age 77 died of apoplexy last night . She is survived by four sons: Dr. HN Coons; William Wallace Coons; EM Coons and Joseph A. Coons and two sisters. ---transcribed by kbz

The Lebanon Reporter gives the following in regard to the death of Mrs. Sarah Coons, who was a relative of County Auditor Airhart and who was well known in Putnam County: Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Coons, wife of John Coons, passed away at 6:10 o’clock Sunday evening at the family residence, 304 East Pearl Street. She had been in poor health for about 3 years and 8 months. Her death was caused by apoplexy preceded by partial paralysis which occurred in June 1908. Mrs. Coons was born in Montgomery County Jan 1, 1835. She was married to John Coons in Montgomery County on Feb 27, 1849. After marriage they took up their residence on the latter’s farm in Jackson Township, this county and lived there until about 19 years ago when they came to Lebanon where they came to Lebanon where they have resided ever since. The husband, four son – Dr HN; WW; EM; and JA Coons and two sisters – Orinda Bruce of Crawfordsville Henrietta Powel of New Ross survive. Mrs. Coons was a member of the Central Christian church of this city and was a devout Christian woman. The funeral was conducted from the residence Tuesday by Rev. CL Airhart of Greencastle. Interment was in the Pisgah cemetery, 14 miles southwest of Lebanon. ---transcribed by kbz
Rev. and Mrs. Airhart will go to Lebanon tomorrow, where Rev. Airhart will preach at the funeral services of Mrs. John Coons, a pioneer resident of Lebanon. Mrs. Coons was the wife of Dr. Coons, a physician of wide reputation. A son of Dr. and Mrs. Coons WW Coons married a sister of Rev. Airhart. ---transcribed by kbz
