Condon - Elsie
Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Saturday 13 September 1890
It will be remembered that about two months ago the little girl of Chas Conden and Mat Ferguson, of Darlington, were bitten by a mad dog belonging to Wm Brinton. The children were taken to Terre Haute and the mad stone applied, it adhering to both of them for a time. It adhered to Elsie Condon’s wounds over an hour, and after treatment the little ones were brought home. Yesterday morning Elsie Condon was taken with frightful spasms and continued through the day suffering all the horrors and terrible pains of that most dreaded disease, hydrophobia. At six o’clock in the evening, completely worn out by her unspeakable sufferings, she died. The funeral will take place tomorrow evening at the family residence. The little Ferguson child has not yet exhibited any symptoms of the disease and its friends hope that it may have escaped the poison.
