The death of M. W. Coleman, formerly of this city, took place at Martinsville on Saturday and the body was buried here Monday in the Masonic Cemetery. The short service at the grave was conducted by Rev. H. L. Nave.  Mr. Coleman was born June 10, 1818, and grew to manhood in Kentucky. He served through the Mexican War in the first Kentucky regiment and proved a brave and valiant soldier. He came to Indiana soon after the war and settled in Martinsville, being one of the leading citizens of the town. He was appointed postmaster in 1861 by President Lincoln and served until 1867. Early in the ‘70’s he came to Crawfordsville and entered the tailoring business with G. W. Lamb. He continued to reside here until recently when he returned to his old home. He was the father of Will A. Coleman, of Waveland, and was a gentleman thoroughly respected by all who knew him.
