Probably the saddest occasion was back in 1900 when two children of Milton Wheeler and wife died of scarlet fever less than 24 hours apart and were buried in the same grave. The next spring there was an epidemic of scarlet fever here when 7 families suffered the dreaded disease. WP Coffman lost two children that spring – Amy, three years old died March 24, 1901;; Richard two years old, died April 22, 1901.
