Omer B. Coons, 84, a retired Mid-States Steel & Wire Co. foreman, died this morning at Culver Hospital. He resided at 708 E. Market St.
Mr. Coons retired in 1957 after 43 years with the firm. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
A native of New Market, he was born Sept. 17, 1881, a son of John R. and Laura Belle Clark Coons. He was married to Rosa E. Ellis who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, the Rev. Eldon Coons and Ernest Coons, both of Brownsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Berry of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Fruth of Speedway; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldon Coons officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
