Levi M. Coons, 82, prominent farmer and lifelong resident of the county, died at his home a mile southwest or Crawfordsville on the Terre Haute road Tuesday afternoon at 12: 30 o'clock. Although Mr. Coons had been in failing health since December,
1933, the immediate cause of death was a stroke of paralysis suffered last Saturday.
Born May 15, 1853, on a farm six miles southwest of Crawfordsville, the deceased was the son of .James M. and Sallie A. VanCleave Coons. He was married Oct. 3, 1880 to Mary Elizabeth VanCleave. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Crawfordsville.
For 73 years Mr. Coons resided in the Elmdale neighborhood. A few years ago he moved to the farm home near Crawfordsville where his death occurred.
The survivors include the wife; a brother, George Coons, of Crawfordsville, and a sister.
The funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the home with Rev. B.E. Antrobus, pastor of the First Baptist church, in charge. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery. -- thanks so very much to Phil Coons :)
