Mrs. Jane Galey Coons, wife of W. J. Coons, of 407 Gipson street died this morning shortly before noon of grip complications after an illness of short duration. The exact cause of her death was not plain, so that an autopsy was held this afternoon by Dr. B. F. Hutchings, assisted by two other physicians. Mr. and Mrs. Coons had just sold their farm south of the city five miles on the Terre Haute road and hall moved here two weeks ago. They had resided on the farm all their lives. They grew up together and have known each other from the time they were children. For forty-nine years the deceased had lived on the home place from which she moved on April 8 to come here. They had decided to take things easy, but like many another when she found herself really to live with ease she died. She was born May 28 1836, and was married to the husband who survives her on November 25, 1852. Four children were born to them. One died in infancy and William S. Coons passed away March 27, 1903. Sarah C. and Mrs. Eva May Layson survive. The funeral will occur at the home Thursday afternoon and will be conducted by S.K. Fuson of Rockville assisted by L. F. Galey and Rev. G.D. Harger of this city.
The internment will take place at the Masonic Cemetery. W. B. Galey and
Samuel Galey of this city are brothers. She was the daughter of James and Caroline Beatty Galey and was born on the place where she has resided for the past forty-nine years with her husband.
