A picture sent to this city from Mineola, Texas, in an effort to identify a young man’s body found there is that of James M. Coons, adopted son of Frank E. Coons of New Market, it was revealed Wednesday when Mr. Coons viewed the photograph displayed here.
Authorities in Mineola forwarded the picture to Crawfordsville when it was found that the hat worn by the young man contained the trademark of Bower and Muthersbough, the clothing firm which recently suspended business here. Several persons viewed the picture Wednesday but it was not until late in the day that it was positively identified as that of the New Market youth.
Mrs. Glenn Straub, 104 Vance street, sister of Frank Coons, who also viewed the picture, declared it was that of James Coons. It was learned that the youth who was 17 years of age had left the home of his foster father at New Market last December and that he had expressed the desire to see the world.
The dead youth was a junior in the New Market school when he left the home of his foster parents. The accident which cost him his life occurred last Sunday but details of the accident have not been learned.
The picture which was sent here and which led to his identification was received Wednesday morning by Willard Bower, west Main street, who in turn communicated with the newspapers here in an effort to identify it.
