HARVEY PRESTON COONS

This morning at 8:30 o'clock at his rooms at the Duncan boarding house on south Washington street occurred the death of Harvey P. Coons, which resulted from a nervous breakdown. The deceased began to fail rapidly two weeks ago while he was visiting
his son Harry at Bass Lake and after returning to this city, he continued to grow worse until death.
Harvey Preston Coons was born five miles south west of this city, June 13, 1837, being 74 years of age. He was the son of George and Julia F. Coons, who came to this county from Tennessee in 1830, and settled on the farm where the deceased was born.
Mr. Coons was married to Mrs. Charlotte Lyons and to them were born ten
children, Charles M.., Harry T., Winifred, Ruth, Walter S., Daisy M., Olive B., Herman F., Adah B., and Helen May. Those living are Harry T., Walter S., Mrs. Winifrede Royer Mrs. Daisy R Cruce, and Herman. Mr. Coons was the brother of William J., James, John R. and Robert Coons and Mrs. Sallie Scott, and of these but William and James are Living.
The deceased was a cabinet maker by trade a was for many years in the employ of the Crawfordsville Casket Co., being rated one of the most efficient men. He was for many years also a member of the old Wilhite band and the Montgomery Guards band, well known to our older citizens, and during his young manhood taught a number of terms in this county.
The funeral will be held from the home of his brother, William J. Coons, on Gipson street, probably on Thursday, but the exact tome has not been set. -- thanks PC for this one :)
