Harry A. Coons was well-known in this community. He served three times as county commissioner, was a successful farmer, active churchman and good citizen. He died at Culver Hospital Tuesday morning after a 10-day illness. He was born 4-3-1883 near Browns Valley the son of Theodore and Patton of near Waveland, a grandson, Ronald Coons Patton, a sister Feran Coons Straub of Crawfordsville and three brothers, Roy C. Coons of Pekin, Illinois; Elmer T. Coons of near Crawfordsville and Carl E. Coons of Russellville, two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted this Friday at the Freedom Baptist Church at 2:00 with Rev. CW Mears his pastor officiating. BUrial will be in the Freedom Cemetery.

Harry A. Coons, 71, formerly Montgomery county commissioner for three terms, died in Culver hospital here Tuesday after a 10-day illness. He was a Republican. The family home is five miles west of New Market. Born near Browns Valley, he was a director of the New Market fire department, a deacon in Freedom Baptist church and was prominent in community affairs. Surviving are his widow, formerly Dorpha S. Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs. Lael Patton, Waveland; a sister, Mrs. Feran Straub, Crawfordsville, and three brothers, Roy C., of Pekin, Ill., Elmer T., of near Crawfordsville, and Carl F., of Russellville.
