GEORGE WASHINGTON COONS

George W. Coons, native of Montgomery County, who would have reached his 90th birthday next Saturday, died at 9 o´clock last night at the home of a son, Merle F. Coons, 604 east Market street. His death followed a short illness with a complication of diseases.
Born near New Market, Jan. 13, 1850, Mr. Coons was the son of James M. and Sallie A. Coons. He was married Nov. 29, 1879, to Elizabeth J. Busenbark at the home of his wife´s parents. The deceased, who was a student of public affairs, was a member of the New Market Baptist church and the Knights of Pythias lodge.
He lived on a farm one mile north of New Market until the death of his wife April 15, 1922. Since that time he has made his home with his son here.
Surviving, in addition to the son, are a grandson, Harold M. Coons of Indianapolis and a sister, Mrs. Mary VanCleave of Wingate.
Funeral Services will be held at two o´clock Wednesday afternoon at the Hunt and Reeves mortuary, and burial will take place at the Indian Creek Hill cemetery. The body was taken to the home of the son, Merle Coons, 604 east Market street, and will be kept there until 11 o-clock Wednesday morning when it will be returned to the funeral home.
