Note from kz:  Maude and Oscar were our neighbors for the 18 years as a youngster in Waveland. Such wonderful folks. She was a painter of still life, fairly reknowned in Indiana at the time but had never painted a portrait - she painted one of me for my 16th birthday. She made the best cookies and I loved seeing the two of them walk by the house holding hands - too cute.
