John Conway dead The following letter to Sant Moody from MJ Conway announces the death of his brother, John, in Los Angeles, California Oct 5, 1948 Dear Friend Sant: Just a few lines to let you know my brother, John passed away, here in Los Angeles on Sept 27. He had not been well for four years but was bedfast a short time, he died in his sleep, the way he always wished he would go. He was 72. The Conways are all gone now except Kate and I. John was operated on one month ago the immediate cause of death was uremic poisoning. Tell Oscar Cook and others who knew him. John retired from Southern Pacific RR as conductor in 1941. I retired March 1, 1946. John came to see us often while he was able, we live about two miles apart and kept in close touch with each other. Well, Sant, I may be back to Indiana next summer and hope to see you, so until then, keep well and lots of good luck to you and all of yours. Your friend, Mike J.
