DARLINGTON – Funeral services for Roy Conrad, 80, former Darlington resident, were held in Moline, Ill., where he died following a stroke. The son of Frank and Flora Driver Conrad he spent all of his boyhood here where his parents operated a restaurant. He attended Darlington High School and graduated with the class of 1907. During his high school years he was outstanding in athletics. In 1911 he graduated from Earlham College. Following his college career, he was a high school coach in Rock Island and Moline for several years. He then became head coach at Augustana College in Moline where he remained until his retirement. Survivors include his wife; a son, Roy Conrad Jr. of Peoria, Ill.; a daughter, Barbara, of Moline, and several cousins, one of-whom is Louis Conrad of Darlington. – jlr
