Oral V. Connell, 40, of Indianapolis, died at 11 p.m. Monday at Veteran's Hospital there. He had been ill for about four years. He was born in Lafayette on August 25, 1922, the son of William J. and Alta Austin Connell. His family later moved to Montgomery County near New Richmond and he attended Montgomery County school. He was married to the former Edna Lucille Beitz on July 16, 1957 in Chicago. He was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church. Survivors, besides his wife, include two daughters by a previous marriage, Sharon Ann, Indianapolis and Sidney Maureen, Sacramento, Calif.; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Ferris, Linden; a grandmother, Mrs. Agnes Austin, Mellott; four brothers, Daniel Lee and William O., both of Crawfordsville, Francis J., Bremen, Ga., and Sylvester J. Connell, St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Loretta Underwood and Mrs. Floyd Wilson, both of Crawfordsville; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Betty Oliver, Battle Ground, and Mrs. Barbara Walters, Holland, Mich.
