Mrs. Louise Lorene Connell, 41, 709 Brook St., wife of Oral D. Connell, died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Culver Hospital, following an illness of four weeks. Born March 27, 1913, at Wingate, Mrs. Connell was the daughter of Everett and Matie Willhite Harper. She was twice married, first to Charles E. Byrd. She was a member of the Mellott Christian Church. Surviving are the husband; father; three children, Shirley, Johnny and Gary Wayne Byrd; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Powell, Waynetown, and Mrs. Herman Allen, Mrs. Eston Hite, and Mrs. Virgil Ballard, and Mrs. Robert Cline, all of Crawfordsville, and a brother, John C. Harper, also of Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by the mother, a daughter, Ann, and a son, Jackie Lee Byrd, who was killed in Korea. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hunt and Son Funeral Home, with burial at the Willhite Cemetery. Rev. Lester Wright will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday. - kbz
