A letter to the editor of this paper from Benjamin Compton, formerly of Co. I, 86th Regiment, but now of Manhattan, Kan., conveys the sad information that his wife, Mahala Shannon Compton, died on the 12th of October, the result of malaria fever and ersipelas of the throat. His late comrades will deeply sympathize with him in his great bereavement. - thanks to Kim H
