Sam I. Collom, 712 S. Water Street, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday morning at Culver Hospital. Mr. Collom, 62 was working on his farm on Rt. 6 in the Youngs Chapel community when he was stricken. The deceased operated the farm in partnership with a son, Lester P. Collom. He had resided on Water street since July of this year. A deacon in the Youngs Chapel Christian Church he was also active in the Men's Fellowship. A native of Ridgefarm, Ill he was born on Aug 30, 1907, the son of Thomas H. and Clara Ellen White Collom. He was married on May 16, 1930 at Cayuge to Irene Chilcote. Surviving are the widow, another son, Rex of Crawfordsville, a daguther, Dixie at home, 4 sisters, Mrs. Doris Long of Sheldon, Ill, Mrs. Wilbur Stowers of Rockville, Mrs. george Collier and Mrs. Osa Miller, both of Cayuga and 4 grandchildren, Terri, Tommy, Brian and karen. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at youngs chapel Christian Church with Pastor Glenn McFarland in charge. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the rites. - kbz
