Linden - Noel E. Coffman, 69, a 45-year resident of the Linden community, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient for approximately 30 hours. He had been ill for 1 1/2 years prior to his death. Born Jan. 28, 1896, in Hardin County, Ky., Mr. Coffman was the son of Judson C. and Elizabeth Martin Coffman. He was educated in Kentucky. He married Genrose Neff in Louisville, Ky., Dec. 17, 1918. Mr. Coffman was a veteran of World War I when he served in the U.S. Army. He was a painter by trade and was a member of the Linden Methodist Church. Mr. Coffman was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Grimes of Lafayette and Mrs. Gwendolyn Dobbs of West Lafayette; three granddaughters, Julie, Nannett and Margie Grimes; a grandson, Clark A. Dobbs; a sister, Mrs. Alma Martin of Cloverport, Ky.; a brother Richard Coffman of Toronto, Canada, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Helms Funeral Chapel in Linden. Rev. Willis Syphers will officiate. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday. - - Linden - Noel E. He was born in Hardin County, Ky., and was married in 1918 to Genrose Neff at Louisville, Ky. He lived here 45 years and was a house painter. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Grimes of Lafayette and Mrs. Gwendolyn Dobbs of West Lafayette; a brother, Richard of Toronto, Canada, and a sister, Mrs. Alma Martin of Cloverport, Ky. - - Coffman, Noel E. - Friends may call at Helms Funeral Chapel, Linden, after 1 p.m. Friday. Services there at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Willis Syphers officiating; interment in Linden Cemetery with military graveside rites. Surviving are three granddaughters, Julie, Nannette and Margie Grimes; a grandson, Clark Dobbs, and nieces and nephews. - - Linden - Funeral services for Noel E. Coffman were held Saturday afternoon at the Helms Funeral Home in Linden, with Rev. Willis Syphers of the Linden Methodist Church, in charge. Mrs. Forest Edwards played selected numbers on the organ. The American Legion service was given by Linden Post No. 306. Those acting as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were Joe Guinn, Billy R. Switzer, Jerry Kahle, Steve Burkle, David McCay and Jack Beach. Burial was in the Linden Cemetery.
