Veedersburg - Mrs. Alta Coffing, 71, a life resident of the Veedersburg community, died at 9 p.m. Monday, Sept 17, 1951 at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville one hour after suffering a heart attack at her home. Mrs. Coffing was born April 8, 1880 near Veedersburg daughter of Morris and Alice VanSickle Bowling. She was married in 1897 to Theron Coffing, whop receded her in death July 1949. Surviving are two sons, Clint and Coye of Odell, Ind; two daughters, Mrs.B.E.Bailey of Danville and Mrs. S.T.Stivey of near Veedersburg; two brothers, Carl Bowling of Marshall,IL; and Fred of Villa Grove; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Osborne's Prairie Christ Church. The body wasremoved at noon Tuesday to to family residencefrom the J. Fred Parham Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.
Veedersburg - Two Veedersburg women, each of whom was 71 years of age, died at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville from heart attacks suffered at their homes here. One of the women, Mrs. Alta Coffing, suffered a heart attack at her home about 8 o'clock Monday night and died at 9 o'clock at the hospital, a few minutes after she had been admitted. Mrs. Coffing was born April 8, 1880, the daughter of Morris and Alice Van Sickle Bowling. She was married Dec. 26, 1897, to Theron Coffing, Mr. Coffing preceded his wife in death on July 19, 1949. Mrs. Coffing is survived by two sons, Clint Coffing and Coye Coffing, both of Odell, two daughters, Mrs. S. T. Spivey, of Veedersburg and Mrs. D. E. Bailey, of Danville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Two brothers also survive, Carl Bowling, of Marshall, Ill., and Fred Bowling of Villa Grove, Ill. Mrs. Coffing was a member of the Osborne Prairie Christian church. Funeral services were incomplete Tuesday. Friends may call at the home.
