Clouser - Enola Rice

After a short illness with tuberculosis, death came to Mrs. Enola Clouser, the young wife of Fred Clouser, at her home near Bowers last Friday. Mrs. Clouser was operated on for appendicitis last fall and was home from the hospital but a few days when she suffered a hemorrage of the lungs. From that time on her decline was steady. Mrs. Enola Rice Clouser was the third daughter of Warner and Clara Osborn Rice. She was born Jan 10, 1902 at Thorntown where she lived until her marriage to Fred C. Clouser Jan 20, 1920. She then resided one and one half miles southeast of Bowers. She departed life April 8, 1921 age 19 years 2 months 28 days. In 1915 she united with Methodist Church at Thorntown. Last Oct she underwent an operation for appendicitis and recovered nicely from the operation but while in a weakened condition tuberculosis took hold of her and in January she became bedfast. Enola many times remarked to her relatives and friends that she was ready to go when the good Lord called for her. “Happy are they that are with Jeus Christ.” She is survived by her husband, Fred C. Clouser, one half brother, George Rice of Thorntown, two sisters, Mrs. Vetha Smith of Indianapolis and Miss Versie Rice of Lebanon, a grandfather and mother near Thorntown and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the UB Church in Bowers Sunday morning at 10 o’clock and were in charge of Rev. RE Webber the pastor. Internment was made at Maple Lawn cemetery near Thorntown – Darlington Herald.
