Again the Master has called one of His children home, and a soul has surrendered this life and gone to dwell in the mansions prepared for it. Francis Marion Clodfelter was born in Putnam County Feb 14, 1846, departed this life at his home May 15, 1918, aged 72 years 3 months 1 day. He was united in marriage to Martha Grimes Oct 18, 1866. Into this home of ideals, instituted by the uniting of these two splendid characters, nine children were born: Edward; Mrs. Carrie Johnson; Mrs. Olivia Harbison; Mrs. Ona Harbison; and Mrs. Tillie Ballard of near Russellville and Jessie near Crawfordsville. One daughter and two sons having preceded him to the Great beyond. About 52 years ago he united with the Hebron Christian Church and placed his trust in God and living a devoted christian life. We feel that he has gone to enjoy eternal rest where to be with Christ is ceratinly to be in a state of conscious blessedness. He was elected Elder of the Christian Church of Russellville in 1911. No one having known Uncle Marion as he was known by all in the community could say less or greater than that "this man was good" - a good friend, neighbor, faithful loving husband and kind devoted father for his christian faith was put into daily pratice by him in his home, among his friends and neighbors in such a way as to endear him in the heart and mind of all. His illness was of short duration and after loving hands had done all they could do, and the frail body could endure no more, he fell asleep and the spirit assembled to Him who gave it, leaving a wife, six children, 18 grandchildren, one brother, two sisters and numerous relatives and friends. "And I heard a voice saying, 'Blessed are the deat that die in the Lord.'" Funeral services were held in the Christian Church Friday at 2 conducted by Rev. Ollie McGaughey of Veedersburg. Interment was made in Hebron Cemetery.
