Russell L. Clifton, 69, a director of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday of a coronary occlusion at his home on Rt. 6 north of the city. He was born Aug. 26, 1891, in Montgomery County south of New Market. His parents were John and Minnie Landis Clifton. On Jan. 14, 1908, he married Grace McMurray in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Youngs Chapel Christian Church and farmed all of his life in Montgomery County. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Royer of Rt. 6; a son, Bill Clifton of Rt. 6; two brothers, Raymond of Bowling Green and Beatty of Hammond; two sisters, Mrs. Bea Croy of Indianapolis and Mrs. Mary Davidson of Rt. 6, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rev. John Servies and Rev. Marvin Schram will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Born south of New Market, he was a farmer most of his life and was married to Grace McMurray in Crawfordsville in 1908. He was a member of Youngs Chapel Christian Church and director of the Farm Bureau. Surviving with the widow are a son, William and a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Royer, both of Crawfordsville R 6; two brothers, Raymond of Bowling Green and Beatty of Hammond and two sisters, Mrs. Bea Croy of Indianapolis and Mrs. Mary Davidson of R 6.

Clifton, Russell L – Friends may call at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Crawfordsville after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Services in funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. John Servies of Crawfordsville and Rev. Marvin C. Schramm of Lafayette officiating; burial in Crawfordsville Masonic Cemetery. Three grandchildren survive.
