Clifton - Harley I

Harley I. Clifton, 81, 607 S Green Street who was stricken with a heart attack Monday morning died at Culver Hospital at 11:45 o’clock Monday night. Mr. Clifton, who had been in the oil business for the past 22 years was near Manchester when he was stricken and was rushed to the hospital here at once. Born Oct 26, 1892 near North Union, he was the son of John and Minnie Landis Clifton. He was first married to Clara Pointer, whose death occurred in 1921. He was married a second time to Ruth Shuler in 1927. The survivors include the wife; two children, Wandalee and Eddith, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Davidson, north of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Brooke Springer of this city and Mrs. Beatrice Croy also of Crawfordsville; five brothers, Raymond of St. Louis, Beatty of Hammond, Russell of north of Crawfordsville, Granville of Crawfordsville and Delbert of New Market and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Frances Landis of near New Market. The parents, a brother, Homer, and a sister, Violet, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. John Servies in charge. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery. - kbz
