Granvil L. Clifton, 65, of Crawfordsville died Saturday at 11:30 p.m. at his home, 314 Spann Avenue. He had been ill four years. Mr. Clifton was born Jan 4, 1884 near New Market, the son of John and Minnie Landis Clifton. His first marriage was to Effie McMurray who died Sept 29, 1939. He was married Jan 11, 1941 to Nina Gilliland who survives. Mr. Clifton was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was employed for 20 years by the State Highway Department. Surviving are the widow; one adopted son, Duane Clifton; one stepson, Cecil Long of Jacksonville, Fla; four brothers, Delbert of New Market, Russell of Crawfordsville, Raymond of East St Louis and Beatty of Hammond and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Davison of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Beatrice Croy of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Proffitt & Sons Mortuary with Rev. Hugh Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
