Last rites for Lawrence Leo Clark, Sentinel mail carrier and a veteran of the Spanish-American war were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday from the local First Methodist Church, Rev. Adrian V. Rea officiated with Rev. Carter of Kingfisher assisting. Mr. Clark succumbed Saturday night after a brief critical illness. He was 64 years, 11 months and 29 days of age at the time of his passing. Born on Nov 19, 1874 at Montgomery, Ind, Mr. Clark was educated in the schools of that state and attended the Indiana State Normal at Odon, Ind. Following his release from the army after the Spanish-American war, Mr. Clark came to Oklahoma to make his home. He moved to Cordell in 1902 and had been a resident of this county for the past 38 years. He was married to Miss Ada Smith there on Oct 29, 1903. At Cordell Mr. Clark was a member of the Methodist Church, having been united in that church in early youth. At the time of his death he was a member of the Sentinel Church and was a member of the board of stewards. Survivors include his widow and five children, Dr. Ivan Clark of Kingfisher, Marvin Clark of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Vivian Jones of St. Paul, Va; Mrs. Virginia Cochran of Oklahoma City and Vernon Clark of Oklahoma City and three grandchildren. Interment was made at the Cordell Cemetery where the Odd Fellows Lodge directed a short service. – kbz
