John Cline, a former resident of Waveland, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. J.R. Graham in Crawfordsville on Thursday afternoon last week. Death resulted from heart trouble from which he had been a sufferer for years. A short service was held at the home, after which the body was brought to Old Union Church where services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Roberts assisted by Rev. Cornelius Airhart. A quartette consisting of Corta Dooley, Walter Penn, Walter Vancleave and Walter Taylor sang. Pall bearers were members of the local Odd Fellows lodge to which Mr. Cline belonged. Burial in the cemetery adjoining. Mr. Cline was born in Kentucky, December 18, 1838. When he first came to Indiana he lived in the Possum Ridge neighborhood, later moving to Waveland and living at the place in Northside now owned by Andrew Miles. He married Rebecca Miles. They had no children but adopted Maggie, the daughter of Mr. Cline's brother, William, now, Mrs. J.R. Graham. Mrs. Cline died about 30 years ago. Mr. Cline worked at farming and logging until compelled to desist by the infirmities of age. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mildred Clore of Byron. -- kbz
