NEW MARKET - Mrs. Ethel Pearl Clifton, 74, a Montgomery county native, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday at the home of her son, Orville D. Clifton, in New Market. She had been in poor health for four years and seriously ill a week before her death. Born April 28, 1890, in New Market, Mrs. Clifton was the daughter of Edwin and Laura Chenault Douglas. On November 24, 1907, she was married to Adelbert P. lifton. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1956. Mrs. Clifton was a member of the Browns Valley Christian Church. She had lived in Browns Valley at one time. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Douglas. Survivors include the son of New Market; two sisters, Mrs. Sherman Smith of Crawfordsville and Miss Dorothea Douglas of New Market, and a grandson, Dale Clifton of New Market. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market. Rev. Grover DeNeal of Waveland will officiate. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday. - kbz
