Harmon Churchill, a well known colored man of this city died very suddenly Wednesday while at work at Lee’s Tile Factory north of town. He had been employed there for 16 years and was regarded as an excellent workman. For several days past he had been complaining of a smothering sensation but Wednesday seemed unusually bright and well. He was engaged in stacking tile in one of the sheds, pitching them up to a fellow workman above when he suddenly dropped over and instantly expired. Coroner Keegan was called and held an inquest pronouncing his death due to heart disease. It was at first reported he had died of sunstroke, but Dr. Keegan declares that false The deceased was taken to Carver’s undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. He leaves a wife and four children residing on south Walnut street. He had always been a quiet, hard working man and was respected by all who knew him. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the AME Church, the Rev. Mr. Saunders officiating. -s
