Waynetown, June 27 - Funeral services for Charles Cedars, who passed away early Sunday morning at Culver Hospital, were held Tuesday afternoon at Christian Union Church, southeast of Waynetown.  The Rev. HH Elmore of Crawfordsville had charge of the services and in discourse emphasized "Rest."  

Mrs. Edgar Henthorne, Miss Louise Payne, Forrest Schenck and Carol Barnett sang, There Will be No Dark Valley, Beautiful Garden of Prayer and Abide with Me.,  Mis Una Schenck pianist.

Flowers were carried by a nice and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Cedars; Dwight Valentine, Billy Cedars, Ivan Cedars, Mary Cedars, Robert Cedars and Russell Cedars.  Pall bearers were Jesse Mullen; Merle Fruits; Floyd Ball, James Nixon, Forrest Schenck, Clifford McClure, Gordon Elliott and Homer Elliott.

Burial took place in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The services were largely attended by old friends of the surrounding farming community. - kjbz

Waynetown, June 24 – Charles Cedars, 49, ill six days with uremic poisoning, died at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, at 4 o’clock Sunday morning.  He was taken to the hospital Thursday.  Born near Waynetown, March 1, 1885, he was a son of George W. and Emza (sic) Singer Cedars, and married Bella D. Cook on Nov 3, 1909.  He was a member of the Christian Union Church near Waynetown. He lived all of his life in Montgomery County and since his marriage had resided on a farm five miles south of here. Survivors are his widow; mother; two brothers, Burt Cedars, Kokomo; Oscar Cedars, Waynetown, and one sister, Miss Golda Cedars, Newcastle. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon from the Christian Union Church. The Rev. HH Elmore of Crawfordsville will officiate; burial in Waynetown masonic cemetery. – kbz
