Margaret Elizabeth Chalfant, age 90, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, November 25, 1996 at her residence at 9:00 a.m. She was born September 28, 1906, in Germantown, Ohio, the daughter of Eardan and Anna (Swain) Peffley. In 1924, in Hamilton, she married Carl Chalfant, who preceded her in death in 1949. She was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. She is survived by tow sons, Richard and his wife, Ella Mae Chalfant of Fairfield and Charles Chalfant of Chillicothe, Ohio; one daughter, Jo Ann Hall of Hamilton; one sister, Rosemary and her husband, William Amiot of Valdosta, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great granchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Barbara Doty, two sisters, Veleda Batcher and Isabell Shera and two brothers, Eardan Peffley and Clifford Peffley. Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be said Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church.
