Mrs. Emma P. Carver, wife of Street Commissioner George F. Carver, passed away at her home – 610 W. Man Street, Tuesday evening about 7:10 o’clock after an illness of long duration. Mrs. Carver began gradually failing Tuesday afternoon and the end came peacefully and without pain at the hour mentioned. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. FW Hixson officiating and burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery. The following will act as pall bearers. Albert S. Miller, Claude Harris, Albert T. Hornbaker, Gilbert Howell, Ward Walkup and BX Marshall of Indianapolis. Mrs. OH Jones and Mrs. Bruce Haines will sing. Emma Hope Ridge was born in Crawfordsville March 9 (smudge – could be 19 or 29) 1862 and was the daughter of David T. and Elizabeth Galey Ridge Nov 25, 1880 she was married to George P. Carver who survives her. A brother, Gifford Ridge of Turlack, Cal and two nieces, Nellie C. Ridge of Indianapolis and Mrs. Helen M. Middleton of cicago are also living. Mrs. Carver was a member of the First ME Church of Athens Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, the Rathbone Sister and of Simonides Court, Tribe of Ben Hur. She was active in all these organizations and especially so in the last named. She served two years as chief of Simonides Court, being the first woman elected to that office in the court. She was a person friends of all the supreme officers of the Tribe. A large circle of friends mourn her loss. - kbz
