Williamsport, Ind., Oct. 20—A horrible accident occurred at the stone quarry here yesterday. Willis Carter, one of the employees, had prepared a blast and arranged the fuse, but thinking it was not going to work he went to it and was in the act of examining it when the charge exploded, tearing off both his hands and lacerating his face with pieces of rocks and dirt. He was knocked insensible. His companions conveyed him home, where medical aid was summoned. His injuries were found to be serious and if he recovers he is maimed for life by the loss of his hands. He has a family. -- thanks so much to s for tying this and so many obits for this site
