Mrs. Goldyn Carroll, 63, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Rainey in Veedersburg Saturday night after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held in Crawfordsville her former home at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday conducted by Rev. HH Elmore. Interment took place in the Masonic Cemetery Crawfordsville. Mrs. Carroll was born on April 4, 1888 near Shannondale, Montgomery County the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Conn Cox. She was married on Dec 9, 1906 to George O. Carroll who died in 1944. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Rainey, Veedersburg; Mrs. Kenneth Smith and Mrs. Gerald Furr both of Crawfordsville; one son, James Carroll of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Lee Dale of Crawfordsville; a brother, Walter Cox of Linden; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Among the grandsons are Pfc. Donald Rainey en route to Austria and FCSN Gordon Rainey abord the Battleship Wisconsin both of Veedersburg. Mrs. Rainey had been called to Peoria on Saturday just prior to her mother’s passing by the death of an aunt, Mrs. Frank Carroll whose funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Crawfordsville. - kbz
