Lee "Larry" Canine, 49, of 904 S 24th St died at 9:48 a.m. Monday Nov
22, 2004 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center (picture). He had been a patient there
since Thursday He had battled cancer since Sept 2005. Born Feb 19, 1955 in
Crawfordsville, his family lived in Ambia until moving to Moran. He attended
Moran and Rossville elementary schools and graduated from Rossville HS in 1974.
He was on the varsity basketball team and received a basketball scholarship to
North Dakota University in Fargo. He later transferred to Olney Ill College,
graduating in 1977. He married Kimberly S. "Kim" Bailey on June 19,
1976 in Rossville. They lived in Olney until 1977 when they moved to Lafayette.
Mr. Canine had worked part time at the grounds department at Purdue while in
high school. After moving to Lafayette
he returned to work full time for the grounds department at Purdue where he was
a landscape crew chief. He had worked there 27 years. He was a member of
Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing intramural/league
basketball, fishing, traveling and hunting mushrooms. He was a fan of Purdue
football and basketball especially women's basketball. Surviving are his wife;
his mother, Martha C. Canine of Lafayette; a brother, Jonathan A
"Jon" Canine (wife: Janice) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two sisters,
Lucy J. Kamstra of Blomington and Meredith "Meri" Ray of Ft. Wayne. - kbz
