Campbell - Mary Pryor
Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday 26 November 1897
Mary A. Pryor was born in southern Indiana June 27, 1817, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Amos Ebrite, New Richmond, Nov. 23, 1897, after an illness of almost a year from cancer, aged 80 years. The funeral occurred at the M. E. Church Wednesday at 2 o’clock p.m. conducted by Rev. Chas. Jakes.
The deceased was married to Jacob C. Campbell, May 23, 1833, and to them were born nine children, five of whom are living, Mrs. Lizzie Ebrite, Mrs. Sarah King, Elisha, Will, and Mrs. Rie Taylor. Mr. Campbell died Feb. 8, 1888.
Mrs. Campbell early in life united with the M. E. Church and lived an exemplary Christian life and often expressed herself as being fully prepared for the change, and died with the blessed assurance, “It is well with my soul.”
While her sufferings at times seemed almost unendurable, she bore them with patience and fortitude. She was well and favorably known, having lived in New Richmond for fifty years. Many neighbors were in attendance Wednesday to pay the last sad tribute of respect to all that was mortal of the departed one and to drop the sympathetic tear with those who were bereft. After having tasted the joys and pleasures of this life, and enduring its hardships and cares, she has gone to heaven to gain her reward and to dwell forever with the redeemed and purified. No more sorrow, no more sickness and pain, but peace and joy eternal. “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” - thanks so very much to "S" for all her awesome obit work on t his site
