Mrs. Samantha Cason, a native of Montgomery County, died at 6 pm Friday at her home, 513 E. Chestnut St., Crawfordsville. She had been ill for the past two years. Daughter of George and Martha Canine, the deceased was born April 24, 1882. She was married Dec. 1, 1900 to William P. Cason at the Freedom Church near Browns Valley. Mrs. Cason joined the Freedom Church at an early age and was a member there until she was unable to attend. She then changed her membership to the Milligan Memorial Church in Crawfordsville. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maude Lowe and Mrs. Lovecia Van Cleave, both of Crawforsdsville; two sons, George Cason of Crawfordsville and Billy Cason of Baton Rouge, La; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Welchel and Mrs. Ed Myers, both of near Waveland; a brother, Ben Canine, of near Waveland, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday from the Profitt and Sons Mortuary in charge of Rev. John R. Servies. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.
