Mary Anna Sutton Carrington, daughter of Isaiah and Anna McCammon Sutton was born Feb 16, 1844 in Green Township, Parke County and passed away July 10th, age 86 years 4 months 24 days. Mrs. Carrington spent her entire life with the exception of 14 years in and near where she was born. Of this, 10 years was at and near Dana and the last four years in Bloomingdale. She was married to Sanford C. Carrington of Parke County on September 3, 1868. To this union four children were born: William David and Willis Willoughby, having preceded her in death, while the husband with one son, Winfred of Guion and one daughter, Effie at home, survive. Mrs. Carrington was the second oldest child of a family of 11 children of which six others also had preceded her in death: Harriet, Serepta, William Oliver, Rosella, Miles Anderson and Eliza Ware. The four remaining sisters are Mrs. Scott Jarvis of Waveland, Mrs. James Jarvis of Milligan, Mrs. Josephine Hester of Winterrowds, Illinois and Mrs. Laura McMullen of Crawfordsville. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends. For several years Aunt Mary has been in declining health while the past three years she has been a bed patient most of her time. During all her sickness she met everyone with a smile, never complaining, always cheerful, ready and willing to do for anyone else. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church at Waveland and also a member of the local Christian Sunday School. Burial at Bethany Cemetery (Marshall). The pallbearers were: Howard Jarvis; Nathan Jarvis; Sanford Carrington, Jr; Henry Jarvis; Jesse McMullen; Joe Todd. The flower bearers were Mrs. George Jacks; Mrs. Ray Sharp; Mrs. Clarence CLodfelter; Laurie Jarvis; Mrs. Anna Gordon, Rosa Jarvis. Two Sons, Some Time We'll Understand and Beautiful Isle were sung by ladies of the Christian Church of Bloomingdale and one solo by Rev. CC Gregg, No Night There. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Carrington, Jr and daughters, Betty Lou and Johanne of Brockton, Ill; Mrs. Glenn Gifford and baby, Norma Jean of Redmon, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. John Carrington; Mrs. Edward Castle and Mrs. George Jacks of Danville, Ill; HA Jarvis of Indianapolis, Henry Sutton of Rockville; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Todd; Mrs. Clarence Clodfelter, Mrs. Ray Sharp and Mrs. America Wilson of Waveland. - kbz
