HARDIN CARPENTAR

Hardin Carpentar, 73, died in an Evansville hospital Thursday a few hours after suffering a heart attack in his home at Mt. Vernon. A former Mellott resident, he was an automobile salesman at Mt. Vernon for many years. He was born May 29, 1900 on a farm near Mellott, a son of Monroe and Ollie McGee Carpentar. He was married to the former Elizabeth Hughes of Inglewood, Tenn. Mr. Carpentar attended school in Mellott. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife and a son Charles, in the USAF; a daughter Charlotte, a senior at Purdue University; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Haines of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Harold (Fern) Shultz of Newtown; a foster sister, Bertha Miller of Miami, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Novell Funeral Home at Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. – jlr
