LADOGA - Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for James Carmichael at the Gephart Funeral Home, with burial in the Ladoga Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with flowers were William Isbell, Don Carmichael, Arnold Yeagley, Frank Luzar Jr., John Isbell, Keith Todd, Paul Houston Jr. and Michael Houston. Honorary pallbearers were Winifred Vice, Sam Carmichael, Lloyd Carmichael, Char1es Young, Leon Majors and Nels Kaiser. The minister was Rev. Albert Galloway. Favorite organ selections were played by Mrs. George Frantz.--waw

LADOGA – James F. Carmichael, 71, longtime resident of this community, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where he had been a patient since Dec. 28. Born Sept. 30, 1897, in Preston, Ky., Mr. Carmichael was the son of William and Louisa Carmichael. He married the former Lena Barr in Anderson May 9, 1916. The couple began housekeeping in Anderson, moving to Indianapolis in 1920. They came to Ladoga in 1930. Mr. Carmichael was plant foreman at Sargent Gerke Paint Co. in Indianapolis for 25 years. After leaving the Indianapolis firm, he was a businessman in Ladoga until his retirement in 1962. He attended the Ladoga United Methodist Church. Mr. Carmichael was preceded in death by a daughter and a son. Survivors include the widow; a son; Donald Carmichael of Ladoga; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Houston of Ladoga and Mrs. Nelle Isbell of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Sam Carmichael of Indianapolis, Arnold Carmichael of Jamestown and Lloyd Carmichael of Ladoga; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Whiteman and Mrs. Hazel Luzar, both of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Dorothy George of Ladoga, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gephart Funeral Home in Ladoga. Rev. Albert Galloway, pastor of the Ladoga United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ladoga Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. -- typed by Chris M.
