William W. CANINE who has been an invalid for some time and critically ill for several days, died on Tuesday morning at his home on East Howard Street. Funeral service at the Christian Church at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon will be in charge of Rev. Robert Lewis. Burial at Union Cemetery. William Washington Canine, son of John R. and Louvisa Moore Canine was born July 26, 1858 on a farm near Freedom and departed this life Jan 5, aged 78 years, 5 months, 9 days. He was married to Margaret E. JAMES, Nov 16, 1879. She survives him with 8 children, 15 gradnchildren and four great grandchildren, and a brother Lyford L. Canine of Paris, Illinois. The children are: Victor L. ; Mrs. Fred Rice and Edgar of Waveland; Mrs. Bernice Causey of Montezuma, Mrs. Robert E. Davidson of Goshen, Mrs. William Kline of Chicago; Lt. Com. Stanley R. Canine of Biloxi, Miss and red, in the US Navy at Pearl Harborn, Hawaaian Islands. He was a successful farmer. Three years after his marriage he took up milling and became an expert flour maker. In 1892 he was obliged to give up his trade on account of arthritis. He became a member of Freedom Baptist Church in his youth and was ever after faithful to his church and master. He was one of the main instruments in organizing and building both the Waveland and Clinton Baptist Churches. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge. - kbz
