THOMAS CANINE

Those attending the funeral of Thomas C. CANINE at his late home in Oxford, Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Canine, David and Mrs. Thelma Smith, Mr. and Mrs. JL Oldshue and Miss Clara Mae. The services were in charge of Rev. Wm. Chancellor of the Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Mr. Canine was the son of William and Martha Ellis Canine. He was born on the old William Canine farm, where Elmer Bayless now lives in September 1852. After his father took charge of the woolen and grist mill at Bluff Mills, he ran the home farm, afterwards moving to Waveland where he ran the "brick livery barn" now burned, and lived in the house now owned by LR Tharp. He moved first to Remington and then to Oxford where he died. He was engaged in the express business with his son, Hubert, at the time of his death. He is survived by the wife who was Elizabeth Whittington, a sister of the late WT Whittington, and by four children: Hubert Canine of Oxford; Mrs. Daisy Merritt of Chicago; Mrs. Faye Benedict of Lafayette; and Wayne Canine of Winter Garden, Fla. - kbz
